Engine Carbon Cleaning · Nairobi, Kenya
Carbon deposits can build up in parts of your engine’s intake and emissions systems. These deposits may contribute to rough idling, hesitation, reduced power, or poor throttle response.
At Cartronique System, we take a diagnosis-first approach. We inspect the symptoms, identify the components that may be affected, and explain suitable cleaning or repair options for your vehicle.
These symptoms can have other causes. Inspection and diagnosis help determine whether cleaning is appropriate.

Understanding the issue
Engine carbon cleaning refers to removing deposits from selected engine or emissions-system components. Deposits can form from soot, partly burned fuel, and oil vapour. In some engines, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) can carry soot into the intake.
The areas affected depend on the engine design. Diesel engines may develop soot deposits in EGR and intake passages. Some direct-injection petrol engines can develop deposits on intake valves.
When to get checked
Carbon deposits are one possible cause of drivability problems. A proper check helps distinguish deposits from sensor, fuel, ignition, turbocharger, or mechanical faults.
✓ Rough or uneven idling
✓ Hesitation or poor acceleration
✓ Reduced engine power
✓ Higher-than-usual fuel consumption
✓ Misfires or difficult starting
✓ Excess smoke or warning lights
✓ Intake or EGR-related faults
✓ Poor throttle response
A symptom or warning light alone does not prove carbon buildup. Fault codes and inspection are needed to identify the actual cause. Cleaning cannot repair a failed sensor, injector, turbocharger, or worn engine part.
Areas we may inspect
The service is tailored to your vehicle and diagnosis. Not every car needs every component cleaned.
Oil-and-soot deposits can accumulate in intake passages and restrict airflow.
Some engines, particularly certain direct-injection petrol engines, can develop deposits here.
Soot may affect movement or flow. Electrical and other faults should also be checked.
Residue can collect in the throttle body and may be cleaned when inspection supports it.
Injector deposits require fuel-system diagnosis and a suitable cleaning procedure.
A DPF has its own diagnostic and service process; carbon cleaning does not automatically mean DPF regeneration.
Our approach
We note the symptoms, warning lights, service history, and vehicle details.
Fault codes and appropriate checks help identify deposits and other possible causes.
We explain which components need attention, the procedure, expected outcome, and limitations.
Cleaning is carried out using a method appropriate for the engine and component.
We check connections, leaks, warning lights, and system operation after the work.
We explain what was found, what was completed, and whether further diagnosis is needed.
If deposits were restricting airflow or affecting operation, cleaning may help restore smoother running. Results depend on the engine’s condition and whether deposits caused the symptoms.
May improve when deposits were contributing to uneven running.
Restored airflow may help the engine respond more consistently.
Performance may improve when a confirmed restriction is removed.
Cleaning relevant passages may help the intake or EGR system operate as intended.
Cleaning does not repair worn components or faulty sensors, and fuel-economy gains are not guaranteed.
Some methods may produce temporary smoke or odor. Ask what is normal for the procedure used. Contact the workshop if warning lights remain, the engine runs worse, unusual knocking occurs, or smoke continues.
Incorrect chemical use, component removal, or debris entering the engine can cause damage. Proper preparation and an engine-appropriate method matter.
No. The need depends on engine design, condition, and evidence of deposits. There is no universal schedule for every vehicle.
Only if a confirmed deposit-related restriction is causing the fault. A warning light needs proper diagnosis first.
No. A DPF requires a separate diagnosis and suitable regeneration or specialist cleaning procedure.
It may help if deposits were affecting engine operation, but results vary and fuel consumption has many possible causes.
